Eastern Newfoundland is host to large variety of Ducks in winter. This workshop is meant to focus on separating the look- alike species. Some of the areas of focus include;
Athya Duck ID- Lesser and Greater Scaup, Ring-necked, Tufted, Redhead and Canvasback
Wigeon identification- Eurasian vs American (especially females and imm males)
Eider Identification- overview of Eider subspecies found in Eastern Newfoundland
Goldeneye Identification- Common vs Barrows
Also included is a review of all species of ducks commonly (and some not so commonly) found in Newfoundland.
Bonus Loon Identification! They aren't ducks, but Loons deserve some love too!
** Note if you can't easily age, sex and identify to species the duck in the workshop
