Learn how to make the most out of your precious birding time and put yourself in the right place at the right time, to give yourself the best chance to find those exciting rarities!
In workshop we will explore the following:
How to read weather maps and why they are important (and where to find them)
How weather systems influence birds and their migration
Seasonal weather patterns- Spring versus fall rarity hunting
Historical review of weather systems that produced major birding events
Where to be and when
Species most likely to be affected by weather events at various seasons
At the end of this workshop you should be able to use weather data to assist in predicting where to best spend your time birding. You will also gain a better understanding of how various weather events, i.e. hurricanes, fall and winter storms impact birds.
